THABYAY - CREATIVE RESISTANCE IN MYANMAR
The 2025 film follows four democracy revolutionaries who are finding creative means to fight against the military junta. Some take up arms while struggling to stay true to their commitment to non-violence, while others engage in “artivism,” using music, poetry and art to bring about a peaceful, free, democratic and truly inclusive future for all people in Myanmar.
Following the screening, there will be a discussion with the film producer Gregg Butensky from Kirana Productions, with one of the key figures in the film, Thet Swe Win, joining online. The event is organised as part of the FS2026 Social Movements seminar, with the discussion moderated by Dr Annisa Sabrina Hartoto.
